|

Distinct Roles for the youth development worker |
|
| |
|
In this program you will identify three (3) distinct roles for the youth |
|
| |
|
development worker. These are: |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
1) Enabling - creating the conditions in which young people can act on . |
|
| |
|
their own behalf; and on their own terms, rather than relying on other |
|
| |
|
people, and especially professionals to do things for them. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
2) Ensuring - operating in accordance with value systems that give a |
|
| |
|
sense of purpose and meaning to how young people use their skills and |
|
| |
|
knowledge. |
|
| |
|
|
|
| |
|
3) Empowering - putting democratic principles into action in the fullest |
|
| |
|
sense, so that young people can play a constructive part in the decision |
|
| |
|
making that affects them at different levels of society |
